| | | | | | April is an exciting month in the orchards. Our peach trees are blooming after a relatively warm March, and the pear trees are next to take the spotlight. This is when we bring in thousands of hives with bees to pollinate our trees while we wait for nature to work its magic. That's not to say our teams are sitting idly by—they're still hard at work thinning branches and monitoring temperatures in case of any late-season cold spells. There's never a dull moment in the orchards.
Bright spring days have me thinking of warm weather and vacations—and what better fruit to capture that spirit than the tangy and tropical pineapple! This is our featured fruit for April, and we work with growers in Costa Rica to bring you some of the most flavorful pineapple to be found.
There are so many ways to enjoy this unique fruit. Sunshine-colored drinks come to mind, like morning smoothies or poolside cocktails. Or perhaps you're looking for a dessert for Easter—you can't go wrong with a classic pineapple upside-down cake. The zippy flavors of the fruit also make a wonderful complement to proteins like ham and fish, especially when grilled for kebabs or diced up for salsa. Get creative with your own recipes and see what delicious pineapple combinations you might discover.
