| | | | | | There's an undeniable nip in the air here in Southern Oregon, especially in the early mornings. We may be in the middle of fall, but recent frost tells us that winter is just around the corner.
The trees in our orchards are nearing dormancy and beginning to drop their leaves. This means our teams are getting ready to start pruning, helping to create space and light for the fruit that will grow next spring—a process that will continue for several months.
All the work ahead comes on the heels of this year's successful Royal Riviera® Pear harvest. It's been a uniquely special one, as we're celebrating our 90th anniversary this year. We know many of our customers keep the tradition of sharing this beloved fruit during the Christmas season, and it brings us all great joy to play a part in your holiday celebrations.
While pears are always the shining stars of the season, you simply can't think about fall fruit without also dreaming about crisp and juicy apples. We work with expert growers in Washington to bring you the most delicious apples available, perfect for pies, butters, or just everyday snacking. My own fruit bowl is full this time of year—and I've got my eye on a warm apple pie recipe to make for Thanksgiving dinner. Yum. | | | | | Matt Borman, Vice President Orchards | | | | | | | | Harry & David Harvest Report | | Get the inside scoop on what's happening in the orchards, find fun recipes, and more. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
