| | | | | | | Our 90th Royal Riviera® Pear harvest is well underway, and I have to say, this year's crop looks mighty delicious. We're counting down the weeks until we can share these incredible pears with you.
In the meantime, here's one more summer fruit I'd like to highlight before we close out the season—the plum. Plums come in a variety of colors and are grown all around the world, having adapted to a range of different soils and climate conditions. We work with growers to bring you a few different types of plums, but the ones our Fruit-of-the-Month Club® members enjoy the most are Black Kat plums from California. Intensely dark purple skin and high sugar levels make these fruits delectable in desserts.
Plums are closely related to peaches and cherries, and they can be enjoyed in the same ways: eaten whole, cooked down into sauce, or used in cakes or puddings. Some might even try their hand at drying the fruit to make prunes. Personally, I'm a fan of a good plum jam—it's the perfect amount of sweet-tart flavor for your morning slice of toast.
