| | | | | |  | | | | | Summer is a thrilling time at Harry & David—the hottest stretch of the season means we're ready to kick off another successful peach harvest. Oregold® Peaches are a prized fruit of ours, and we can't wait to share this year's crop with you.
We grow five different varieties of peaches that ripen in stages, so our teams are plenty busy picking through each of our three orchards in the Rogue Valley to select them at their peak. There are more than 65 acres of trees to tend to, which can translate to about 400 tons of peaches once the harvest is complete. We only ever handpick our Oregold® Peaches to maintain their perfection, and we wait as long as possible to do so. Leaving them on the tree for longer allows them to attain a higher level of brix—a measure of sugar—which makes our peaches extra sweet and delicious.
Of course, this is just the beginning of our busy season here in the orchards. Once we've wrapped up peach harvest, it'll be time to turn our attention to the fruit that started it all—our legendary Royal Riviera® Pears. The seasons seem to fly by, but each one is just as special as the last.
